Parents What to Expect

The Montessori program is based on the individual needs of each child. The basic Montessori lessons are outlines in our Montessori Curriculum Standard. Your child will be introduced to lessons based upon individual readiness and interest.

A child entering Montessori later than age three will be given the foundation lessons first. Older children generally move through the basic lessons quickly.

The Montessori Difference The Montessori method utilizes a unique approach to teaching children. Its methods teach children to trust themselves, to enjoy learning and to fully explore their own potential. This Method is based on the observations and work of Maria Montessori (1870-1952).read more...
  1. Your child is not compared to other children for evaluation. A child is an independent person with his or her own internal time clock for learning. Expecting a child to have the same interests and academic agenda as an adult, sibling or classmate is counterproductive and shows little respect for that child.
  2. Your child will learn at his or her own pace, and will not be pushed, nor held back to wait for others.
  3. Your child will be free to repeat a lesson as often as needed. Mastery of a concept is gained through such repetition.
  4. Your child will have opportunities to explore all types of activities including: ironing, sewing, hammering and working with building blocks. We do not make gender-based assumptions regarding each child's activities.
